How to Dunk a Basketball – Learn to Jump High Enough to Dunk

The best way to increase quickness, flexibility and overall snap age in your legs is to do plyometrics. These exercises involve explosive drills and are the quickest way to increase your vertical jump.

Here are some simple plyometrics exercises:

Rim Jumps – Stand under the rim and put your hand straight up. Jump as high as you can trying to reach the rim or a point past the rim. Try doing 3 sets of 5-10 jumps.

Leg Chair Rockets – Place one foot on a chair and grab your waist with your hands. Propel yourself straight into the air using the foot on the chair, switch legs and feet when you come down. Do around 3 sets of 5-10 reps.

The other factor you must focus on is strength; to increase overall strength in your legs you must start weight training. Nothing major just some simple exercises that will increase muscle mass in your legs, here a few that you can start doing today. Squats are probably the best exercises for overall lower body growth; the deadlift is another great exercise that will stabilize the lower back and body. Calf raises will significantly increase strength in your calves, leg press and leg extensions will take care of your quads and you should also walk around on your toes to strengthen the toes.
