PLYOMETRIC SPEED TRAINING
Plyometric Speed Training
A plyometric workout program highlights plyometric speed training because most athletes need them in order to step up their games, whether to be able to score that winning shot, run the fastest mile, and the like. In order for it to work, it is a must to be able to follow a maximal training for strength phase. Generally speaking, a plyometric workout program is needed in order to be able to generate strength, force, and speed in athletes. There are specific ones made specifically for a certain sport.
There are different types of exercises involved in plyometrics. There are those that target the lower body. They are most suitable to sports like hockey, baseball, track and field, basketball, soccer, sprint, rugby, and other types of sports that would require the use of the lower body at all times. There are also those that are used for the upper body. They are most suitable for sports like volleyball, baseball, tennis, badminton, softball, golf, throwing, and table tennis.
The exercises that are being used in a plyometric speed training varies a lot. They are also categorized according to intensity (high, moderate, low, and submaximum). Ideally, plyometric exercises should gradually progress from low, moderate, submaximum, and high to become effective and safe at the same time.
