Do you play basketball? Do you ever wish that you can make that awe-inspiring slam dunk that nobody else is capable of? Have you ever watched the most renowned NBA players and wondered how on Earth they were able to pull off such amazingly high jumps, clearing the net and having a slam dunk nearly every time? You’re probably not alone, and there could be many other basketball players out there who are simply keen on improving the height of their jump, even if they don’t really play professionally. Even if you just play basketball with your friends or your coworkers, it’s still a very good idea for you to be able to jump high in order to be better at the sport you play.

Jumping high isn’t some God-given skill that only a handful of people possess. Sure it looks amazing and impressive, but you should know that behind the skill of jumping high lies hours and hours of grueling workouts and serious, focused training. Therefore, you’re going to need to really get into the training for you to condition for body for higher jumping. You can choose to work with a coach or a trainer, or you can also purchase a good jump training program like the Jump Manual.

Of course, you can also try working out on your own. A highly recommended type of workout is squats. Squats strengthen both your thigh and leg muscles, making them even stronger for jumping purposes. Make sure to do different types of squats for each session to add variety to your workout. Start with the classic squat and then experiment with other squatting styles to work various areas of your legs.

Alternatively, you can also perform jumping exercises. Jumping exercises can help you gauge how much progress you’re making in terms of your jump’s height. Try this simple workout: Start by positioning yourself low to the ground, then using your feet and your legs, drive yourself upward as high as you can. This trains your leg and thigh muscles to work more explosively and rapidly.

Keep in mind that training to jump higher in basketball doesn’t yield overnight results. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve a significant improvement in the height of your jump. But don’t get discouraged. As long as you put in the effort, do everything correctly, and get help and advice on how to do the workouts correctly, you should soon be able to make progress.

Learn vertical jumps and improve your health, sport skill and tone your muscles. One of the workouts that are most over looked are the ones that teach you to improve your jump. Discover today how to become a vertical jumper.

The key to immediately increasing your vertical by at least three inches is not working out. It is something a little more simple that most people neglect, even though it can be the fastest improvement that you can do for you vertical jump training.

Having proper jumping form can immediately increase multiple inches on your vertical using the leg strength you already have. Do not immediately assume that you are already jumping with the right form, because almost no one does without practice.

Try putting form jumping into either the beginning or end of your workout routine. Either way you can tune your muscles to jump the right way when you are working out and when you are in a game. Just because the form jumps might feel weird at first does not mean they are not working. If your vertical is getting better when you are form jumping, then you should not care if it is uncomfortable at first.

Before you can start your form jumping you need to focus. Focus on using every muscle in your body to help you learn how to jump higher in basketball. If you cannot start by focusing on jumping as high as you are capable of, then you will never jump as high as you are capable of.

There are two types of vertical jump training jumps: one leg and two leg jumps.

Form jumping off of one leg should be as smooth as possible. You also want to jump as quickly as possible. Swing your arms to help you gain more momentum when shooting into the air. Form jumping off of one foot should be performed by running forward and jumping up quickly. Always stay as smooth as possible when you jump. Once you land run forward again and jump using the same technique. Keep doing this to help you improve your jump form.

If you are better at jumping off of two legs, then you should practice this form jumping. The key to two-legged form jumping is a jump hop. Start by running, then do a little jump hop and land on two feet. Try to bend your legs as little as possible when you jump. When you land run forward and do the whole process again. Constant repetition will help you improve your vertical form.

Doing form jumps is a very key way to improve your vertical almost instantly. When you start jumping like you do in the form jumps you should notice an immediate improvement.

So what made him so great? Well, his 48″ vertical jump didn’t hurt. In fact, Michael Jordan’s vertical leap gave him a significant advantage over his competition. He could easily pull down rebounds, raise up to block shots, and throw down some powerful dunks. I can’t promise you that you will be dunking like Jordan, but if you implement the proper training program you CAN significantly increase your vertical leap.

When a person jumps, the three major muscle groups involved are the quads, hamstrings and lower back. Well, what about the calves you may be asking….they really don’t play a large part. Try this test out for yourself if you don’t believe me.

Stand in place with your feet flat on the ground. Do not bend your knees and jump up as high as you can. Alright,….well I’m guessing you didn’t jump very high. That would be because when you try to jump that way your body is only able to use the calves. Ok, repeat the test again but this time take a deep knee bend. Are you done? This time you should have jumped much higher because you are using your large muscle groups in your legs.

In reality the quads, hamstrings and lower back are responsible for about 80% of your leaping power. So it would make sense to base the majority of our training on these muscle groups. Here are a few exercises that I recommend…

HEAVY Squats – Notice I said the word “HEAVY”. If you are trying to improve your vertical use heavy weight and no more than 8 reps. Squats are hands down the best overall exercise you can do to improve your vertical leap. If you look at the squat motion you can easily see that it closely resembles the motion you use when you are preparing to jump. This exercise hits all the right muscle groups.

Sprints – Running sprints has several advantages. They will increase your speed, build your leg muscles, and improve your vertical jump. You can perform sprints anywhere, you don’t have to take time out to go to the gym. You can easily make them harder as well by running up a hill if the flat land sprints become too easy or boring.

Jumping rope - You can use the jump rope pretty much anywhere and it will help your reflexes and improve your cardio. If you haven’t done it for a while you will quickly see that jumping rope is a great workout. Although, if your workouts start to become easy, you can add some ankle weights to make them more difficult.

Box Jumps – Box jumps are a basic plyometric exercise that you can do to improve your vertical leap. You don’t have to have the professional boxes to perform them either. Basically anything will do. Jumping onto and off of a tall bench works well. Just remember to jump up again as soon as your feet hit the ground and EXPLODE UP as high as you can.

Heel and Toe touches - With your feet shoulder width apart, jump as high as you can and lift your heels toward your butt. Now while you are in the air touch your toes. Land, jump again and touch your heels. If you master this and want to mix it up, to increase the difficulty try to touch your toes and then your heels before you land.

An area that is commonly overlooked is the individual’s jumping form. It is easy to gain a quick 2-3 inches on your vertical just by implementing the proper jumping techniques. Trust me, I can say this from experience because I have seen it in myself.

Learning to jump higher will not only be useful in sports but also, in practical, day-to-day living.
Basketball is among the many sports that call for a player or an aspiring player to be able to have excellent jumping skills. Face it. The game of basketball calls for a certain set of skills.

Jump Higher In Basketball And Dunk Learn The Secrets

When trying to jump higher and dunk the basketball there are many factors to consider. If you are not naturally gifted with the ability to be able to jump three feet in the air you will need to work out. The most overlooked thing athletes do when training to jump higher is working out the total body. Just doing squats all day will not improve your vertical leap to the level you are looking for.

Although having strong legs is a advantage when training to dunk the ball. You need to condition the rest of your body also. Look at Olympic power lifters, you think they can get that enormous torso off the ground to dunk a basketball? They undoubtedly have some of thee strongest legs in the world but their upper body is not trained for jumping.

Overall full body conditioning is the key to reaching your maximum vertical leap. The most important thing is to use a good training program that works the large muscle groups of the body. By working the large muscle groups you involuntarily work the smaller muscles also. The end result is a solid foundation to work with when learning the mechanics needed to allow you to jump higher and dunk a basketball.

Look at all Major sports that require the ability to jump high. The obvious sport is basketball but there is also volleyball and wide receivers in football. In general they are lean without excessive body fat. These athletes train their whole body, not just their legs.

Another advantage of conditioning the whole body is speed. When all your muscles are stronger they compliment each other and you will be faster. Just because you can jump higher than everyone in a basketball game does not mean you will be the best player. You must have speed and agility to go along with your ability to jump.

The best exercises to perform to help you jump higher are high intensity cardio like sprints, You also want to do resistance exercises that use large muscle groups. You should always workout with a spotter when working with heavy weights.

Do not just go to the gym and start doing squats till you puke. If you can afford it work with a trainer, this can be very expensive, do so. At the least get a good quality training system to follow. And here is the real secret to jumping higher in basketball games and dunking the ball. Whatever training you do you must stick with it.
Jump Higher Basketball Techniques

It is no secret that basketball players want to jump higher. More than just being an admirable skill, being able to jump higher in basketball means having a big advantage over the others. There are lots of ways on how to jump higher in basketball. These include both off-court and on-court strategies that basketball players can integrate into their game.

Save the shoe ads… shoe manufacturers might have developed shoe brands that claim to help you jump higher but these special shoes cannot really add much difference in your jumping ability. There might be basketball shoes that make you jump higher but these are not included in the proven methods that can make you jump higher in basketball – both on and off the court. If you really want to develop your potential, then you better learn some exercises on how to jump higher for basketball.

Off-court jump higher techniques include specific exercises that help develop the muscles involved when you are jumping. Many athletes pay more attention to this set of techniques than on on-court ones. To help you jump higher for basketball while off the court, you will need to undergo some strength training, as well as full body fitness training. These trainings will help ensure that your body is in its top possible condition and you have the basic strength to enhance your vertical jumping ability. Jumping rope is also an effective off-court jump higher for basketball technique. Simple as it may sound, having a proper and regular jump rope routine can significantly improve your jumping potential.

There are also ways on how to jump higher in basketball while you are on the court. You simply need to remember a couple of things. First is to concentrate on jumping as high as possible and then moving towards that direction as fast as possible as you are approaching the hoop itself. The faster you move towards the hoop, the higher that you will be able to jump.

The second technique is to make use of the two-step rule. Doing dashes while dribbling and leaving the last two steps as preparations for you to shoot the ball into the hoop can actually help you jump higher. To maximize your potential, try to quickly stop dribbling just before making your leap. This will enable you to fully correct your posture and focus on completely lifting yourself from the floor and achieving your highest jump as possible.
